Arrested in cheating case

CHENNAI : Police arrested a 43-year-old man on charges of cheating a public sector bank to the tune of Rs 1.72 crore and a city court remanded him to judicial custody here on Friday.

Investigations revealed that T Jayachandran of Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar had been in export business and had taken trade loans from the bank. When the documents furnished as collateral security were found fake, the bank lodged a complaint.
