IICT `ignites' students' minds

HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) organised a science fair `Ignited minds' at the IICT Zaheer Memorial School grounds, Habsiguda, on the occasion of National Science Day.

The fair, which attracted several schools that exhibited their scientific talents through models, charts and posters, had incentives in the form of cash prizes of Rs.10,000, Rs.5,000 and Rs.2,000 for the first, second and third winners respectively. There were also 10 encouragement prizes of Rs.1,000 each.

The event, which had IIT Kharagpur Director S.K. Dube as chief guest, had the host IICT-ZM High School bagging first prize for the best model on the topic `Soda bottle electrostatic motor,' which made use of static electricity produced by friction. IICT Director J.S. Yadav announced the prizes.
