High Court stays Tellapur land acquisition

HYDERABAD: Justice G. Raghuram of the High Court on Friday stayed further proceedings in the matter pertaining to land acquisition of HUDA at Tellapur Ramachandrapuram mandal in Medak district.

This interim stay order was passed in a writ petition filed by `G' Block Plot Owners' Association and others. The petitioners contended that HUDA was acting like a `real estate agent' and the land acquisition cannot be initiated at its behest.

They contended that the law did not permit the authorities to initiate land acquisition according to their whims and fancies in the name of public purpose.
