Thiruvananthapuram: After months of uncertainty, the Government has finally granted permission to the Public Works Department (PWD) to cut down 15 trees posing a hurdle to the development of roads in the city. The Kerala Forest Development Corporation has been directed to take up a compensatory plantation programme to replace the trees to be cut for the City Roads Improvement Project. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Forest Minister Benoy Viswom on Thursday to resolve the problems caused by the delay in felling the trees. The meeting directed the officials concerned to cut down 12 trees on the LMS-VJT Hall road and three trees hindering the construction of a service road for the proposed flyover at the Bakery Junction.
