Student attacked

Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was attacked by a man wielding a machete at Chittattumukku in the Kazhakuttom police station limits on Friday. Aswathy, who sustained deep cuts on her limbs, was admitted to the Medical College hospital. The police were investigating the girl's 60-year-old neighbour `Madan' Sasi, 60 in connection with the attack. — Staff Reporter

Man found guilty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Second Additional District Court judge K.P. Jyotheendranath on Friday found Sebastian alias Chevithian guilty of raping and murdering a two-year-old girl hailing from a fishermen colony in Pozhiyoor in August 2005. The verdict in the case will be delivered on Monday.
