KOCHI: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has warned that water connection of consumers who failed to remit the water charges will be disconnected. Revenue recovery proceedings will be initiated against such consumers. According to official estimates, the authority has to receive Rs.265 crore from various consumers in the central zone. Local bodies have to remit dues amounting to Rs.212.74 crore. The official figures of other institutions: public sector - Rs.1.15 crore; domestic and industry - Rs. 18 crore, and Government offices - Rs.12.5 crore. Revenue adalats will be organised in the districts to settle the water tariff arrears incurred by various institutions. The State-level inauguration of the adalats will be held here on March 17. Consumers in Ernakulam district can submit their complaints before Assistant Executive Engineers of the authority. The last date for submitting the application is March 13. According to a press release, water tariff arrears amounting to Rs.41.37 crore were recovered from the central zone.
