Residents back BBMP decision on zonal office

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Even as residents of Yelahanka are demanding relocation of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) zonal office at Yelahanka from Byatarayanapura, residents of Byatarayanapura have vociferously supported BBMP's decision to locate the office at Byatarayanapura.

"If the BBMP goes back on the decision and relocates the zonal office at Yelahanka, residents of Byatarayanapura will have no option but to resort to serious protests," warned Byatarayanapura Nagarika Vedike.

Vedike president and former City Municipal Council (CMC) president Srinivasa Raju told presspersons here on Friday that Byatarayanapura was located centrally to all areas coming under the jurisdiction of the proposed BBMP's zonal office.

Armed with statistics, Mr. Raju rebutted the claim of Yelahanka residents that it was the biggest locally administered area.
