Swadeshi Science Movement bags national award

It is celebration time for the Swadeshi Science Movement. For, the science movement has won the National Award for Outstanding Efforts in Science and Technology Communication from the Union Ministry of Science and Technology.The award was presented by the Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences in New Delhi recently.

The award, given for the movement's initiatives in taking science and technology to the masses, carries a purse of Rs.2 lakh, a memento and a citation.

Secretary V.P.N. Nampoori said the science movement aimed at the development of the nation with the aid of science, engineering and technology. Inspirational programmes for students, annual science congress and science exhibitions organised by the movement have had a huge impact on society, the secretary said.
