Bhat panel was not given any facility: Dharam Singh

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: The former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly, N. Dharam Singh, here on Saturday dubbed the winding up of Justice U.L. Bhat Commission of Inquiry by the State Government seven months after it was asked to probe Rs. 150-crore bribery allegation as an insult to judiciary.

Mr. Dharam Singh, who was on his way to Chikmagalur to participate in Youth Congress rally, made a brief stopover at Hassan.

He told presspersons at Government Guest House that on the floor of Council, Mr. Janardhan Reddy made the allegation against the Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, and two other ministers. The Congress did not demand constitution of commission of inquiry. On the other hand, Bhat Commission wrote to the Government that the Forest Department, Mines and Geology Department and Police Department were not cooperating with it. The commission recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the allegation. We too sought CBI inquiry into the allegation as well as the NICE corridor episode. Even the Governor had spoken to the Commission. We are meeting the Governor in this regard to press for CBI inquiry. The Government did not give any facility to Bhat Commission," he said. Mr. Dharam Singh described the H.D. Kumaraswamy Government as the Government of Reprimand as it received several reprimands from courts. The State Election Commission had moved the High Court to get direction to the Government on local body elections.
