Threatens `partial action'

P. S. Suryanarayana

SINGAPORE: North Korea's chief nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-gwan on Saturday hinted at a backlash against failure by the U.S. to lift financial sanctions on his country. Mr. Kim said Pyongyang would then be forced to take "partial actions" in the context of the multilateral efforts to secure the denuclearisation of his country. Mr. Kim said: "The U.S. has promised it would scrap financial sanctions on the Banco Delta Asia, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is keeping a close eye on the promise." The Bank has been targeted by the U.S. as a suspected conduit for the alleged money laundering and currency counterfeiting by Pyongyang.
