CPI(M) plea on relief to PABR displaced

ANANTPAUR: A delegation of CPI(M) and Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham represented the problem of families displaced by Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir (PABR) and who did not get compensation for about 25 years now to Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Laxmaiah in Hyderabad on Friday.

According to district secretary of APRS P. Peddi Reddy, a delegation lead by legislator K.V. Narasaiah, State president and secretaries of APRS S. Malla Reddy and Rama Rao, and others called on the Minister. They requested him to give compensation to the families who had lost lands in the project, Government jobs to their family members and special assistance to the families that had lost members (died) in their quest for compensation. They also submitted a memorandum.

The Minister directed the Secretary for Relief and Rehabilitation to pay compensation to the farmers displaced.
