KSRTC staff to get benefits

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Employees of the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will soon get three per cent of the 15 per cent DA due to them soon.

Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas, while inaugurating the 31st annual conference of the KSRTC Labour Union here on Saturday, said that all other benefits due to the employees, including DA arrears, would be paid as and when the corporation's revenue increased with the operation of new buses.

President of the union and former Transport Minister C. K. Nanu presided.

The Minister stated that the Government had agreed to stand guarantee for the KSRTC to take loan for buying 1,000 new buses.

The system of building the bus bodies in other States would be stopped.

They would now be built in the central works and regional workshops of the KSRTC, he said.

Chairman and managing director of the KSRTC T.P. Sen Kumar said that the motor accidents claims tribunal award arrears of the corporation came to Rs.73 crore and pension arrears around Rs.180 crore.
