ERODE: The Municipal sanitary staff is finding it very difficult to remove plastic materials dumped into the drainages. Staff from Municipal Health Department claim that drainages are cleared regularly but shop-keepers and the general people are throwing plastic materials into the drainage. Though the district administration has banned the use of plastic bags and other plastic materials of certain micron thickness, all varieties are being used now. On RKV Road, near the Municipal Nethaji Daily Market, three feet of plastic papers pile up in the drain everyday. Within an hour of removal it gets clogged again with plastic wastes. Near Annatex at Karaivaikkal area huge quantity of plastic papers and plastic materials are piled up in the Perumpallam Odai. Those who pass by the area have to close their nose because of the bad smell emanating there.
