HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party on Sunday dashed off an open letter to Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu accusing his party of trying to buy votes for the Legislative Council elections under the MLA quota.
`Unethical means'
In a two-page open letter, copies of which were released to the media, Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Government Whips -- D. Sridhar Babu and S. Udayabhanu -- accused the TDP of trying unethical means to get their fifth nominee elected in the Council elections.
Horse-trading
The Congress leaders suspected the intentions of the TDP leaders and alleged that the latter were trying to resort to horse-trading. With the present strength, the TDP would win only four seats but presence of the fifth candidate raises doubts. Notwithstanding the all out bid by the TDP to secure support for the fifth candidate, the Congress party would romp home in all the 20 seats on its own, they pointed out.
