HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday announced formation of `anti-land grabbing cell' promising that every call would be attended to instantly with the might of the Opposition. At a press conference here, party Whip P. Keshav narrated details of the visit to Kadapa district on Saturday along with a team of MLAs and senior party leaders. "It took us slightly over half-an-hour to go around the Kondur estate belonging to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. There's simply no way it can only be 270 acres, as it is claimed. It has to be over 700 or 800 acres," he declared. Making a mention of how the teams had gone around Denduluru, Kondur and Keesaragutta, he said if there were any regional feelings, it was only among some political parties and leaders . "When it comes to land holdings, the Congress leaders, in general, along with the Chief Minister, his family members and relatives do not appear to have any such feelings," he quipped.
Discussion
Replying to a question, Mr. Keshav said the party would press for a full discussion on the land holdings of the Chief Minister and his relatives during the current session of the Assembly. "We do not mind anyone buying land with hard-earned money. It is only when there are reports of locals being coerced to part with their precious land that we will step in," he said. Meanwhile, TDP Deputy Floor Leader T. Devender Goud led a team of MLAs on Sunday to Keesaragutta. He said the party had decided to help people whose lands were taken by anyone quoting the Chief Minister's name or any leader from Kadapa district. He outlined the party's stand and its objective in setting up a monitoring cell (Ph: 040-30699999).
