Truckers drop stir move

Correspondent

CUTTACK: Truckers who have threatened to boycott railway goods from March 12 dropped the move in view of the assurances coming from railway authorities vis-à-vis their grievances.

In a press release, joint coordination committee of the city and State truck owners' associations informed that the Khurda Road railway Additional Divisional Manager M.N.S. Ray promised to investigate into the allegations against erring RPF inspector.

Truckers alleged that RPF inspector D. Ramu was harassing them and implicating many drivers and helpers in false cases.

Mr. Ray also assured that the demands of the truckers would be met, said State truck owners' association general secretary Rabi Satapathy.

He said the railway authorities accepted the truckers' proposal to open an office, canteen and make arrangements for drinking water at the Cuttack railway station goods shed.
