Faiz Ahmed on fire

HYDERABAD: A swashbuckling century by Faiz Ahmed (102, 23 balls, 12x4, 8x6) fashioned The Hindu's emphatic 205-run win against Media Club in the Coffee Day Cup corporate cricket tournament here.

The scores: The Hindu 309 for five in 20 overs (Faiz Ahmed 102, Krishna Rao 52, Srikanth 93) bt Media Club 104 for nine (Krishna Rao three for 16).

Corporate football tournament

The second Royal Cup floodlit football tournament for corporate groups will be organised at the Gymkhana Grounds on March 17 and 18 (makeshift lighting will be in place), according to Zulfiquar Ali, 1956 Olympian and chief patron of Royal Sports & Events Management. Twelve teams had already confirmed participation.

Kanbay in final

Kanbay and Deloitte Challengers entered the final of the second Challenger Trophy corporate cricket tournament here.

The scores: Microsoft 121 for nine in 20 overs (Krishna Rao 31) lost to Kanbay 122 for four (K.L. Dilipsarathy 70); Deloitte Challengers 124 for nine bt Genpact Software 59 (Sumit five for seven).

Frindez CC scores win

Frindez Cricket Club scored a convincing 145-run win against Superdents in the Amcap Cup cricket tournament at the Shashi Seth Stadium (Kapra) here on Sunday.

The scores: Frindez CC 246 for nine in 25 overs (Andrew 54, Raghuveer Acharya 88 n.o., Jeevan five for 31) bt Superdents 101 in 17.5 overs (Sai Baba four for 25); Challenger CC 168 for six in 25 overs (Vyas 40) bt BUA XI 128 in 22 overs (Yeshwanth five for 17).

KPHB Club triumphs

KPHB Club defeated Bolarum Club 40-36 in the men's final of the Satish Dhawan memorial ball badminton tournament for Central Government scientific organisations here on Sunday.

In the women's final, Hyderabad District defeated Medak 40-30.

Sayeedulla wins title

Sayeedulla Khan won the 11th Brilliant Trophy open chess tournament with 6.5 points from seven rounds here on Sunday.

The final placings: 1. Sayeedulla Khan, 2. M.Y. Raju, 3. Jagadeesh, 4. Chiman Prakash, 5. D.V. Ganesh, 6. Vijaykanth, 7. P. Satyanarayana, 8. K.S. Anand, 9. S.V.C. Chakravarthy, 10. J.V. Sai Kiran.
