Youth summit from March 18

Special Correspondent

Delegates from 20 nations to attend

HYDERABAD: A city that is getting to be popular as a MICE -- Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions -- destination will hold a seven-day Asia Pacific Exchange Leadership Development Seminar between March 18 and 24. About 170 delegates from 20 nations will attend.

The APELDS is organised by AIESEC, launched in 1948 by four youths, which now has a global network across 800 universities in 93 nations.

It is a platform for young people to discover and develop one's potential for a positive impact on society.

The Asia Pacific network is one of the five that AIESEC has carved out globally and it holds a conference every year in March, with the last one held in the Philippines and the one in 2005 held in Bangladesh.

Mallika Sattiraju; vice-president (communications), said APELDS would be inaugurated by Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy in the presence of Coca-Cola CEO Atul Singh and representatives of organisations like the United Bank of Switzerland, DHL and HDFC.

The inaugural at Taramati Baradari on March 18 would see a global village being put up, with the 20 participating nations setting up stalls showcasing their art, culture and tradition -- food, dance and music included.

The stage then shifts to Pragati Resorts, where it will go on for six days until March 24.
