Nilgiri Dairy's plans

Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE: Nilgiri Dairy Farm Private Limited plans to increase the number of outlets from 40 to 500 by 2010.

According to its chairman, M. Chellayan, the company has 30 franchisee and ten direct outlets. It will add ten more outlets in two to three months. These will be mainly in the southern States.

As part of this expansion plan, the company proposes to open convenient stores. These will be smaller in size (about 2,000 sq. ft. each) and will have just the essentials such as provisions, bakery and dairy products.

The number of such stores and location will depend on the enquiries and study of the area to be done by the company.

Mr. Chellayan says the capacity of its manufacturing facilities at Erode, Chennai and Bangalore will be scaled up commensurate with the increase in demand. The company plans to invest Rs. 200-300 crore towards its expansion plans.
