CHENNAI: TVS Motor Company has lined up a slew of launches for 2007-08, having just announced the introduction a new variant in the Star category of economy bikes in its portfolio. Named StaR Sport, the new 100cc bike is aimed at further consolidating the company's position in the economy segment. TVS Motor will come out with two versions of StaR Sport, a base model and a deluxe one. The ex-showroom price of the base model in Chennai is Rs. 33,990 and the deluxe model Rs. 35,490. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, K. N. Radhakrishnan, President, said StaR Sport would come out with a five-year warranty. "It (StaR Sport) addresses different style preferences of customers," he said. With the launch of new variant, he was hopeful that the TVS Motor would scale a market share of 35 per cent in the segment. Mr. Radhakrishnan said the company would come out with a new Victor soon. He said 2007-08 would be the year of launches for TVS. TVS Motor would come out with a three-wheeler in August and a new Apache subsequently, he said. He indicated that the Indonesian venture of the company would go on stream in May and the Himachal Pradesh project in April next year.
