Puducherry: Petroleum Sports Promotion Board with two grandmasters and 2 international masters took a slender lead by one point (10.5) in the 29th National men's team chess championship here on Monday. Indian Airlines, West Bengal and LIC followed the leader closely (9.5 points each). PSPB outplayed Punjab by 3-1/2 1/2, while Indian Airlines and West Bengal played cautious chess to settle for a draw (2-2). RSPB had to be content with 1-1/2 points against LIC. Tamil Nadu made a clean sweep of Karnataka, which lost all the games in this round. In the women's section, Indian Airlines logged 11 points out of possible 12.
