NELLORE: The 46th Senior National Bodybuilding Championships Mr. India-2007 will be held here from March 16. Some 750 bodybuilders from different States and Union Territories as well as those from Indian Railways, Army, Navy, port trusts, banking services, postal and telecom are expected to take part in the three-day event. Over 200 officials will also participate in the event. Selectors will also pick the squad for the coming World Bodybuilding Championships Mr. World-2007 to be held at Shanghai in China, District Olympic Association secretary and Rapur MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy told The Hindu .
Nine categories
Outlining the schedule of the event, Mr. Reddy said that events would be held in nine weight categories from 55 kg to above 90 kg in the age group of 21 to 45 years. The winner in each group would qualify for the final event, the Mr. India-2007 title.
Cash prizes
Winners would get cash prizes worth Rs 1.35 lakhs. Sabari Sri Rama Kalakshetram temple committee chairman Ch. Venkateswara Reddy and District Amateur Bodybuilding Association president P. V. Prasanna Reddy would sponsor mementoes and shields worth Rs. 40,000, he said. On the opening day, there would be a weigh in and the event would be inaugurated at A. C. Subba Reddy stadium on March 17. The final pose down and prize distribution would be held at Kasturba Gandhi Kalakshetram on March 18.
