State to auction seized pulses

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Stocks of pulses seized in the recent raids will be auctioned in three days.

Replying to a debate in the Assembly on Monday on rise in prices of essential commodities, Civil Supplies Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy said a massive quantity of 3,75,500 quintals worth Rs. 73.47 crores was seized. The seized goods were committed to the court.

Telugu Desam members led N. Chandrababu Naidu staged a walkout dubbing the Minister's reply "inadequate." Mr. Naidu blamed the Government for the rising prices and said his party would continue the struggle against price rise at the village level.

Mr. Reddy said the Government had launched steps to check the inflationary trends such as conducting raids and procuring onion and pulses.
