Garden Kodava Sangha in final

Bangalore: Garden Kodava Sangha defeated Sree Igguthappa Kodava Kshemabhivradhi Sangha (Vidyaranyapura) 3-1 in the first semifinal of the Inter-sangha hockey tournament played at the hockey stadium here on Sunday. Roshan Anjaparvanda (3rd), Appanna Kandanda (40th) and Somanna Karinervanda (59th) scored for the winner while Konnirira Jeevan (37th) pulled one back.

In the second semifinal, Banaswadi Aarea Kodava Association beat Brahmagiri Kodava Sangha, Murgeshpalya 6-5 via the sudden death after the teams ended 0-0 at regulation time and 5-5 in the tie-breaker. I. Nanaiah, B. Nanaiah, K. Uthaiah, M. Karumbiah, K. Thaswanth and B. Nanaiah scored for the winning side while B. Poovanna, H. Mahesh, K. Bopanna, A. Ganapthi and U. Poonacha scored for the loser.

Brahmagiri KS. Murgeshpalya beat Sree Igguthappa KKS Vidyaranyapura 3-1 via the tie-breaker to finish third.

KSP beats HAL

It was goals galore in the league match between Karnataka State Police and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in the Field Marshal Cariappa memorial hockey tournament here on Monday as KSP beat HAL 6-4.

Mohan Kumar (6th), Laxman Rao (18th, 47th), Parmesh (34th), Madappa (37th) and Umesh Mutgar (56th) scored for the winner. Jitin Kalappa (38th), Domnic Savio (41st, pc) and Rajesh (46th & 49th) found the target for HAL.

In the first match, Indian Telephone Industries defeated Madras Engineering Group (Boys) 2-1 with Satish (50th) and Rajendra Kumar (61st) scoring for ITI. Arun Kumar (41st) slotted the lone goal for MEG.

KSBA schedule

The Karnataka State Basketball Association has released its calendar of events for the season, which begins with the State sub-junior (under-13) championship on April 12 and ends with the State senior championship in October.

The calendar: State sub-junior (under-13) championship: April 12 to 14; State youth (under-16) championship: May 11 to 19; `B' division league championship (men): June first week; `C' division championship: June last week; `A' division men's league championship: September third week and State senior championship (for the Association Cup): October last week.

Goalless draw

Southern Blues and BEL were locked in a goalless draw in a State Super Division league match on Monday evening.

Earlier, in an `A' Division league match, ASC defeated Nationals 2-0. Sourav Das and Amanjith scored for the winner.

Inter-collegiate basketball

Bharath Sports Union will conduct an inter-collegiate basketball tournament at the BSU courts from March 20 to 24. Entries close on March 14 and details may be had from Kishan at 98861-61417.

Bharat hits hundred

K.V. Bharat's 102 guided M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) to a six-wicket victory over New Horizon College of Engineering in an Inter-collegiate tournament match here on Monday.

The scores: New Horizon College of Engineering 167 in 26.5 overs (Veer 50) lost to MSRIT 170 for four in 24.5 overs (K.V. Bharat 102).

Inter-corporate tournaments
