State party president constitutes new executive

BHUBANESWAR: President of the Orissa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Suresh Pujari on Monday constituted the State Executive of the party.

Noted actor and former Minister Prashanta Nanda, who was denied a party ticket in the 2004 Assembly polls, has been taken as one of the vice-presidents in the new State Executive.

Mr. Pujari also nominated the presidents of all Morchas of the party such as the Yuba Morcha, Mahila Morcha, Kishan Morcha, Minority Morcha, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Morcha.

State executive meet

The newly constituted State Executive includes 15 women, 6 Scheduled Caste and 13 Scheduled Tribe Members. Mr. Pujari has convened the first meeting of State Office-Bearers and District Presidents here on March 18.

The six leaders who have been made vice-presidents are Om Prakash Joshi, Nayan Kishore Mohanty, Prithviraj Harichandan, Prashanta Nanda, Pratap Sarangi and Sanchita Mohanty.Raj Kishore Das, Panchanan Rout and Dharmu Gand have been appointed general secretaries and Aswani Sarangi, Sumanta Pradhan, Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, Artatrana Mohapatra, Karendra Majhi and Urmila Mahapatra have been appointed secretaries.

Lok Sabha MP Surendra Kumar Lath has been appointed Treasurer.

As regards the different wings of the party, Bijaylaxmi Mishra has been appointed as president of Mahila Morcha, Bibhuti Jena president of Yuva Morcha, Draupadi Murmu president of Scheduled Tribe Morcha, Mayadhar Jena president of Scheduled Caste Morcha, Md. Rafique president of Minority Morcha and Krushna Jagdev president of Kishan Morcha. As many as 58 leaders were named as members of the State Executive and 41 leaders were named special invitees. The State Executive members include Jual Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, M.A. Kharavela Swain, Ananta Nayak and Prasanna Mishra.
