Release Manjira water to Medak: CPI (M)

Special Correspondent

Political leaders asked to raise the issue in Assembly

HYDERABAD: The CPI (M) Medak district committee has urged the Government to ensure that Manjira water is fully utilised to cater to the irrigation and drinking water needs of Medak district.

CPI (M) district secretary Chukka Ramulu has urged the leaders of all political parties to raise the matter in the Legislative Assembly and ensure that the Government kept its promise of supplying two tmcft of Manjira water to the district. In a memorandum submitted to the floor leaders of all parties, he said though the Government had assured release of two tmcft water, orders issued in this regard had been kept in abeyance since long.

As a result, agriculture in the district had become rain-fed resulting in problems to farmers whenever there was drought. The padayatra commenced by the CPI (M) to protest the interests of the farmers of the region would culminate into a public meeting in the city on Tuesday following which the leaders would meet Chief Minister.
