HYDERABAD: Potti Sriramulu Telugu University has announced `Sahitee Puraskarams' to best books in Telugu literature for 2005. University V-C A. Manjulatha announced the awards in a press meet here on Monday. The following is the list of award winning works: `Nirvachanam' (poetry free verse) - Ghantasala Nirmala, `Vedika' (verse poetry) - Rasaraju, `Relapootalu' (lyrical poetry) - Goranti Venkanna, `Palamanasulu' (children's literature) - Malayasri, `Pakshi' (short story) - V. Pratima, `Kalamegham' (novel) - K. Ramachandra Murthy, `Vyasa Gowthami' (literary criticism)- B. Ramabrahmam, `Amarajeevi' (play) - Vadrevu Sundar Rau, Tilak's `The night that rained nectar' (translation) - V. Kondal Rao, `Sreehari Nighantuvu' (others category) - Ravva Sreehari, `Palikinchaku Mouna Mrindangalanu' (Best book among women writers) -Volga. In the other awards category, M. Sujata Reddy won the Best women writer award, K. A. Singaracharyulu - Best Sanskrit scholar award, and Yusuf Sarmast - Best Urdu scholar award. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs.20,116 and citation. They will be presented in a function to be held on March 16 in the University, Dr. Manjulatha said.
