RTC union threatens to go on strike

Staff Reporter

The corporation has been incurring Rs. 1,000-crore loss every year due to illicit operation of private vehicles

HYDERABAD: The APSRTC National Mazdoor Union has threatened to serve a strike notice after March 15 to protest against the delay in regularising posts of casual and contract bus conductors and drivers. It has also alleged negligence in curbing illicit private transport operations. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, NMU working president M. Nageswara Rao said there were nearly 11,000 casual and contract workers for regularisation before March 31, 2007, as per the agreement signed by the corporation with the union. He said despite requests, there was no positive response from the Government over the issue, resulting in financial hardship and unrest among employees.
