Pickpocket stabbed to death

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: An alleged pickpocket was stabbed to death by unidentified persons in old city on Sunday night.

The police said the assailants, who killed Mohammed Rizwan, 25, alias Chand, in an autorickshaw, were shifting the body to a secluded place in the same vehicle when they met with an accident on Syed Ali Chabutra main road in old city.

They fled the place leaving the body in the vehicle after it hit the debris on the road and overturned. Passers-by saw the body on Monday morning and alerted the police.

Inquiries revealed that Chand had stolen the wallet of a person when the latter went to Metro theatre in Bahadurpura to see a movie. "We are suspecting that a dispute over sharing of the stolen property with his friends could be one of the reasons behind the crime," Chatrinaka Inspector S. Sudhakar said.
