HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has ordered an inquiry by Commissioner of Land Administration A. Raghothama Rao into affairs of Government lands at Nadergul in Saroornagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district near the city. Announcing this during zero hour in the Assembly on Monday after opposition members raised a furore, Finance Minister K. Rosaiah said the CCLA would go into all aspects of the lands -- ownership, possession and alienation -- and submit a report at the earliest. Sources said all transactions on the lands came to a halt following the Chief Minister's decision. The Sub-Registrar concerned was asked not to register any sale/purchase of these lands till all aspects were cleared. Earlier, M. Ranga Reddy (Congress) in whose constituency the lands are located, alleged that some unscrupulous elements kept an eye on these lands as their market value had gone up steeply. P. Keshav (Telugu Desam) said the lands reportedly belonged to Raja Shivraj Bahadur, a jagirdar under Nizam rule, but they were deemed transferred to the Government following abolition of jagirs. However, some people, calling themselves relatives of the jagirdar, claimed ownership of the lands and began to sell them away. He said the lands measured 1,200 acres of which 600 acres had already been sold away. He alleged that a Congress MLA was behind all this mess.
