It may not allow you to let your hair down on a Sunday. That is if you are thinking of a haircut. These days, not all salons in Kozhikode entertain patrons on the holiday. The hairdressers are splitting hairs over which day they should be off-duty. One group wants Monday to continue as off-day. But the Barbers' Association district and State committees want it on Sunday. The former says that Sunday being a holiday for schools and offices, a hairdresser makes the most money on that day. It is mostly the young people in the fraternity who want to take a break on Sunday. When those opposed to the idea opened shops on the first Sunday of March, the rival group tried to make trouble. The police intervened and the shops continued to function. Now, the patrons are in trouble unless they know on which side their hairdressers are. Thinking of long manes and beards?
