LPG tax issue: Kerala to talk to Centre

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Government will take up with the Centre the question of passing on to the consumer the fall of Rs. 22 in the price of LPG following the introduction of VAT.

This follows the failure of a meeting convened by Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran here on Tuesday to take a decision on the issue. The representatives of oil companies told at the meeting that the companies were directly collecting the reduction in the price of LPG which the consumers were eligible for. The companies were doing so not only in Kerala but also in other States. They were told that they cannot do it without the Centre's permission.
