Bangalore: With AWATAR (Any Where Any Time Advance Reservation) scheme of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), passengers can now book tickets and even pay for them online. "Such a facility has been introduced for the first time in the country," said N. Chaluvarayaswamy, Minister for Transport. He was launching the facility here on Monday. "The AWATAR scheme uses advanced technology. The KSRTC officials have worked hard and this is the reason behind the corporation's success, which is significant when compared to the other road transport corporations," he said. The Minister said that after Tamil Nadu, Karnataka had the lowest bus fares in the country. However, the buses in the State were not more than four-years-old, while those in Tamil Nadu were at least eight-years-old. "The facilities we provide to our consumers have been well-appreciated. Same is the case with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation," he added. Mr. Chaluvarayaswamy said the department had been planning to introduce more Volvo bus services in the city.
