PAYING TRIBUTES: A photo exhibition on G. Devarajan's life organised by the Paravur Fine Arts Society at Paravur, near Kollam, on Tuesday as part of observing Devarajan's first death anniversary on Wednesday.
KOLLAM: The Paravur Municipal Council has organised a programme at the Municipal Nehru Park on Wednesday to observe the first death anniversary of musician G. Devarajan. The programme commences at 8 a.m. with the paying of floral tributes to the departed musician at the `smrithi mandapam.' The commemoration meeting, which follows, will be addressed by poet O.N.V. Kurup, Ministers M.A. Baby and P.K. Gurudasan, Kollam MP P. Rajendran, Sreekumaran Thampi, former Minister C.V. Padmarajan, former editor of Janayugam Thengamam Balakrishnan and N. Anirudhan MLA. Paravur municipal chairman K.P. Kurup has said that the civic body has taken the lead to construct a memorial in honour of Devarajan at Paravur. Work on a statue of Devarajan has already been taken up by Kanai Kunjuraman. The statue will be installed at the Nehru Park. The meeting will be following by a musical programme comprising songs tuned by Devarajan. Singers K.J. Yesudas and P.Jayachandran will be participating in the programme.
