Award for communal amity

GULBARGA: In recognition of their contribution to spreading the message of 18th century saint Sharanabasaveshwara, Peetathipathi of Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan Sharanabasawappa Appa has selected the Yemanursab Dargah and Sri Shivaiah Swamy of Shivanand Math of Huliyapur village in Kustagi, Koppal, to receive the Purana Pravachana Award. It carries a purse of Rs. 10,000 each and a commendation certificate.

Discourses on the contributions made by saint Sharanabasaveshwara and his philosophy of Dasoha were being conducted in the dargah without break for the past 15 years. The "mutwali" of the dargah Malkasab was instrumental in requesting Sri Shivaiah Swamy of Shivanand Math to conduct discourses all these years.

Giving away the cash awards to Sri Shivaiah Swamy and Malkasab, Dr. Appa said that the contribution of the two were a shining example of communal amity in the region.
