Taking a peek at the younger generation's potential to take the country's economy to new heights of prosperity will be CNN's new weeklong programme, "Eye on India: Generation Next", that goes on the air this coming Sunday.

The programme will take a no-holds-barred look at Generation X that is playing a vital role in the rapid growth and influence of the country.

As partners, both CNN International and CNN-IBN will pool their newsgathering skills to showcase the country's powerful youth brigade and its changing attitudes and values to the globe. Announcing the launch of the programme on Tuesday, CNN International senior vice-president Rena Golden said over half a billion people under the age of 25 -- or one in every 12 people -- in the world are young Indians, who are a potential economic and cultural resource on the world stage. Describing the collaboration between CNN-IBN and CNN International as a proud and privileged one, CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai said the new series would showcase a rising nation to the world.

"This CNN initiative will focus on youth. In our episodes we will speak to various leaders from the field of corporate, sports and cinema. They will all be under the age of 40." The programme will take off with an hour-long episode, "CNN Connects: India's Generation Next", this Sunday. -- Madhur Tankha
