Second phase of Budget session from April 26

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The second phase of the Budget session will start from April 26 and go on till May 22, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi announced here on Tuesday.

The session was originally slated to begin on April 18. Five working days would be lost as a result, which would be made up in the next session, he said.

The seven-phase Uttar Pradesh Assembly election will be held from April 7 to May 8. Campaigning for the polls will coincide with the second half of the session.

Apparently, it was felt that the session could not be tampered with to accommodate election schedules in one State or another.

The change in schedule was decided after a meeting of senior leaders of the United Progressive Alliance which reviewed parliamentary business.
