TDP skips BAC meet in protest

Special Correspondent

Finds fault with Speaker's `partisan attitude'

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday stayed away from the Business Advisory Committee meeting convened by Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy. Its action was in line with its announcement last week that it would not attend BAC meetings to register protest against the alleged partisan attitude of the Speaker.

The BAC decided to extend the budget session of the Assembly by a day till March 30. The House would now meet on March 20 in reversal of the earlier decision as the Government has declared that March 19 and not March 20 as holiday on account of Telugu New Year's Day, Ugadi.

There will be no sittings from March 16 to 19 in view of the elections to the Legislative Council from the graduates', teachers' and local authorities' constituencies on March 17.
