Dalits seek panel on land issue

HYDERABAD : Dalit Bahujan Front has demanded that the State Government constitute an independent commission to look into the land related issues and ensure that the assigned lands being acquired be given to Dalits.

The front wanted the Government to distribute 1.2 crore acres of land under the possession of different departments to landless poor. Members of the front took out a large rally in the city on Tuesday in support of their demands. CPI State secretary K. Narayana said though the Government constituted various committees on Dalit issues, their recommendations were not being implemented as these panels had no legal sanctity. CPI(M) State secretary B.V. Raghavuluand TRS MLA T. Harish Rao spoke.
