Thanjavur: Sathyabhama Bhadreenath, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Chennai Circle, on Monday inspected the brick basement-like structure stumbled upon by workers while digging the earth for laying foundation for a toilet in the car parking area near the Big Temple here on March 8. She said the entire structure had to be exposed before coming to a conclusion. Workers continued digging the earth tracing the structure, which extended from the point where it was stumbled upon towards the western side. Ms. Bhadreenath said that there was no evidence of the superstructure in the soil. Now, the structure was only partly exposed.
