KURNOOL: Collector M. Dana Kishore has called upon bankers to double their lending to priority sector saying that it is in a position to absorb more credit on account of increased irrigation potential. Addressing a workshop on rural non-farm sector here on Tuesday, he said development of agri-based industries or non-farm industries hinged on financial support from bankers. He said Kurnool district was one of the few places in the State where there was good scope of development of industries. Industrialisation would generate more jobs and ensure good prices for farmers. The State Government had advised the district administration to promote cultivation of a type of grape. A scheme was introduced to set up vineyards. He said apart from farmers, woman groups also emerged as potential borrowers in the district influencing the business of banks.
