Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has given administrative sanction for the purchase of equipment and construction in the five medical colleges in the State. It involves a cost of Rs.10.76 crore. The works are as follows: Thiruvananthapuram Medical College spine surgery unit to get Rs.1.5 crore (Rs.98.795 lakh for purchase of equipment). Rs.35 lakh for blood bank modernisation. Trauma care development: Rs 2.44 lakh (Rs.18.99 lakh for gas pipeline). Thrissur Medical College equipment for Paediatric Radiotherapy department: Rs.99 lakh, purchase of five ventilators Rs.40 lakh. Kottayam Medical College building for trauma care: Rs.56.25 lakh, purchase of equipment: Rs.90 lakh, modernisation of nurses cum house surgeons' quarters: Rs.12.80 lakh, repair of men's hostel Rs.11.65 lakh.Kozhikode Medical College installation of ventilator: Rs.28 lakh, purchase of five dialysis units Rs.28 lakh, establishment of uro dynamic system Rs.22 lakh, capsule endoscopy in Gastroenterology Department Rs.14.53 lakh.
