CUTTACK: Eminent litterateur Sitakanta Mohapatra has been nominated to receive the prestigious Sarala Samman for the year 2006 for his outstanding contribution to Oriya literature continuously for the past five decades. The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a bronze memento and a citation, would be conferred on Dr. Mohapatra by Governor Rameswar Thakur on the 26th Foundation Day celebrations of the Sarala Sansad here at Sarala Bhawan on March 19, said sansad secretary Pravakar Swain on Tuesday. Dr. Mohapatra penned several epic pieces, including Astapadi, Sabdara Akash, Samudra, Chitranadi and Barsha Sakala, to name a few. Dr. Mohapatra also compiled over 50 poetry collections, Mr. Swain said.
