KARIMNAGAR: In a bizarre incident, former Janashakthi group naxalite along with his associate allegedly committed rape of a married woman and assaulted several villagers demanding food in Ankusapur village of Sircilla mandal on Monday night. Police sources said that former Janashakthi dalam member Rangaiah alias Chanti (25) and his associate Md. Yaseen (24) both hailing from Sircilla mandal, went to Ankusapur village, threatened a villager on the outskirts by stating that they were `annalu' and snatched his axe by showing a toy pistol.
Incident
Later, they entered the house of a married woman, who was living alone with her daughter and eking out her livelihood by rolling beedis as her husband had migrated to a Gulf country in search of employment. The accused wanted the woman to serve food. When she said she was poor and unable to give food, they committed the crime. Later, they attacked a local merchant and snatched Rs. 5,000 and thrashed another person. By then, the victims raised an alarm and mobilised villagers and caught hold of the two. Md. Yaseen was handed over to the police. However, Chanti escaped. The police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the culprit.
