STRONG SUPPORT: Former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao campaigning for MLC candidate Venkata Narayan Reddy in Sangareddy on Tuesday. Bar Council members are also seen.- Photo: Mohd. Arif
Sangareddy: Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ch.Vidyasagar Rao who demanded formation of Telangana State even before the general elections announced that his party would organise `jail bharo' in every district in the region immediately after the Legislative Council elections. Vidyasagar Rao who was here on Tuesday to participate in the campaign of MLC graduates constituency candidate Venkata Narayan Reddy spoke to reporters.
Political equations
He said that 1,116 activists from each Telangana district would court arrest during the `jail bharo' programme to compel the State Government to change its stance. He warned those who are fighting for a separate State to achieve it by any means before the elections as he opined that political equations are bound to change after the election. He also said that the ambitious number game the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is hoping would not materialise as the 1971 experience suggests that more Loksabha seats don't automatically result in separate Statehood. Vidyasagar Rao demanded the State Government to take over all the Government land from illegal occupants by strictly implementing the existing laws. Suspecting the sincerity of the Government in this issue, he criticised both Congress and Telugu Desam for using the State Secretariat and Assembly for settling personal scores. Quoting data from Jayathi Ghosh's report, he pointed out that except Karimnagar, the credit to deposit ratio in the coastal region stood at 90 per cent whereas in Telangana, its is only 29 per cent.
