KARIMNAGAR: With the D-day fast approaching, campaigning for the Legislative Council elections is gaining momentum in Karimnagar with the candidates wooing voters by organising padayatras and meeting them personally. Twenty-six candidates have remained in fray from the Karimnagar graduates constituency, which comprises Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak districts. Main contenders, including former MLC V Jagapathi Rao as Independent, Komatireddy Mohan Reddy with the support of Congress, R. Satyanarayana with TRS support, P. Venkatanarayana Reddy (BJP), Banapuram Madhusudhan Reddy, Kasuganti Laxman Kumar and Anabheri Latha independents, have intensified campaign. Main contenders have intensified their campaign by organising rallies and meetings in various parts of Karimnagar district with graduate voters.On Tuesday, R. Satyanarayana, a journalist of Medak district, who is being supported by TRS, visited various offices in the Collectorate building complex and sought employees' support.
Whirlwind tour
BJP senior leaders M. Venkaiah Naidu and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, State president BJP Bandaru Dattatreya and former State president Indrasena Reddy campaigned for its candidate P. Venkataramana Reddy in the Karimnagar graduates constituency. Former MLC V. Jagapathi Rao conducted a whirlwind tour of four districts of the constituency. He is organising meetings with the graduates, employees and other organisations. Kasuganti Laxman Kumar, Bar Council member of Andhra Pradesh, took out a vehicle rally in Karimnagar town. He is banking on the advocates' votes of the constituency.
Telangana Statehood
Incidentally, all the main candidates are highlighting the Telangana Statehood issue in the campaign for the Council elections. Implementation of GO 610 is also among the major promises.
