Police seize lodge

Staff Reporter

Newsreader Badiga Lakshmi Sujatha was murdered here on Feb 9

VIJAYAWADA : The central circle police on Tuesday seized Vajram Lodge in Governorpet, in which television anchor and newsreader Badiga Lakshmi Sujatha was murdered on February 9.

During the course of investigation into the murder case, City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand found fault with the lodge management for not registering the details of the persons who checked into the lodge. The management was also faulted for allowing a girl (Lakshmi Sujatha) into the lodge against the norms.

The police seized the lodge on February 16, but the lodge management moved the High Court challenging the seizure. The management sought to know why the police had not issued a show cause notice before seizing the lodge. Following directions from the court, the police issued a show cause notice to the lodge management and subsequently seized the lodge on Tuesday.
