Staff Reporter

Suspect's wife still in a state of shock

VIJAYAWADA : The sensational case of stifling to death of two children and attacking their mother, Narmada, who is recovering in a private hospital, has "almost been closed," as Ramdas Deendayal Prasad, the father of the two deceased children and the main accused in the case, was found dead, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central Circle) N. Ramachandra Murthy.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Murthy said that a team of police officials and parents of Prasad went to Kamalapura in Bellary district of Karnataka and found that the belongings of an unidentified body found by the local police were of Prasad.

Last rites

"The Kamalapura police performed the last rites as the body was in a highly decomposed condition when it was found in Oil Canal at Kamalapura, 2 km from Humpy, on Saturday," Mr. Murthy said.

The police team seized credit cards of the SBI and the ICICI Bank, a PAN card and a driving license of Prasad. "Narmada is still undergoing treatment. She is in a state of shock and is not in a position to give her statement," he said.
