CHENNAI : A speeding Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus reportedly ran over a motorcyclist killing him on the spot here on Tuesday. Police said when the city bus was proceeding from Guindy towards Kotturpuram, it hit a two-wheeler near Anna Gem School. As a result, the rider lost his control and fell. The bus ran over him. The pillion rider suffered injuries. The Adyar Traffic (Investigation) police identified the victim as Kumaradas (28) of Tambaram East Ganapathi Nagar. He was not wearing a helmet, they said. He was working as a supervisor in a private bakery, which has a chain of outlets. Driver Mani (50) was arrested. The body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is on.
Couple found dead
A couple were found dead in their residence in MGR Nagar police station limits here on Tuesday. Police said Sivakumar (38) of West Jaffarkhanpet Annai Satya Nagar, a mason, and his wife Janaki (30) locked themselves up in the house, after their daughter went to school in the morning, and hanged themselves to death. On information, the police visited the scene and sent the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. And Further investigation is on.
