CHENNAI : It was a dream come true for self-taught artist A.P. Shreethar when tabla maestro Zakir Hussain inaugurated his painting exhibition here on Tuesday. The exhibition titled `Ustad Zakir Hussain in my dreams,' featured a collection of 21 paintings of the artist. The artist, who used digital effects to enhance his painting, had photographed Zakir Hussain during the maestro's earlier visits to the city. "I closely studied his photographs and also his body language and expressions," said Mr. Sreethar. A flattered Mr.Hussain commended the artist on his effort. A photographer's delight, he cheerfully obliged eager camerapersons trying to get a good picture of him. Just when the buzz settled down, ghatam vidwan Vikku Vinayakram made his entry. When the master of the earthen pot shared the dais with Mr. Hussain hours before their evening concert the only thing missing was the ghatam and tabla. Director K. Balachander was among those who had come to see the paintings exhibited. The paintings portrayed Zakir Hussain in action through various shades and effects.
